A pensioner has been banned from driving after repeated offences.
Barbara Geismar, of Dean Court Road, Rottingdean, was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months when she appeared before Sussex (Central) Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Brighton Magistrates’ Court, on April 9.
The 79-year-old had been caught speeding in her Audi on Falmer Road in Woodingdean on April 25 last year. A Gatsometer camera clocked the vehicle travelling at 35mph in a 30mph zone at 12.31pm.
The speed limit was signified by street lighting placed at less than 200-yard intervals, the court heard.

Geismar, who was not present at the hearing, entered a guilty plea by post. Magistrates determined that disqualification was obligatory due to repeat offending, and her driving record was endorsed with three penalty points.
She was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £16 victim services surcharge along with £120 in costs, bringing her total bill to £176. A collection order was made and she has until May 7 to settle the balance. Her guilty plea was taken into account when magistrates imposed the sentence and the DVLA has been notified of the endorsement.
The prosecution was brought by Sussex Police under section 81(1) and 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
