Maintenance Work Begins: Expect Road Closures

A maintenance scheme will result in more than 30 roads being closed across Brighton and Hove.

Brighton and Hove City Council has released a public notice indicating that the closures will occur from 27 April 2026 until 27 October 2027.

The full list of affected routes covers both Brighton and Hove districts.

Closures will only be implemented when maintenance work is actually needed.

Pedestrians will continue to have access throughout, while vehicles will be directed along signed diversion routes.

These works are part of the council’s 2026/27 Capital Planned Maintenance Programme.

The roads affected throughout Brighton and Hove are as follows:

Western Road between Holland Road and Montpelier Road

Upper Rock Gardens, northbound direction only

Boyces Street in its entirety

Lewes Road southbound at the junction with Woollards Way

Mile Oak Road north of the A27

Kingsway at Hove Street opposite number 151

The Ridgeway between Ridgeway Gardens and Crescent Drive South

Elm Grove from Bernard Road to Hallet Road

Hampton Street from Spring Street to Hampton Place

South Street in its entirety

Hardwick Way between Hangleton Way and Hardwick Road

Florence Place from Ditching Road to the cemetery access point

Craven Road at the junction with Queensway

Western Terrace in its entirety

Oxford Place at the junction with Ditchling Road

Trafalgar Road and Victoria Road at the junction with Trafalgar Road

Rosehill Terrace from London Terrace to Kingsbury Road

Station Approach between Goldstone Villas and Denmark Villas
