Grants supported by renewable energy are enabling more eco-friendly futures throughout Sussex.

The Rampion Community Benefit Fund 2026 has begun accepting entries, offering £150,000 in funding for projects with environmental benefits run by local communities.

Backed by the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm and administered through the Sussex Community Foundation, the initiative focuses on schemes that advance clean energy and cut emissions in structures operated by charitable and community groups.

Hannah Clay, who leads grants and impact work at the Sussex Community Foundation, explained that the fund is especially seeking initiatives that invest in renewable power and decrease carbon output for charitable ventures and community premises, such as solar and battery setups, insulation work, and other sustainable projects that serve the local area.

Previous beneficiaries include St Matthew’s Church in Worthing, which secured slightly over £20,000.

Paul Mason, grant co-ordinator at St Matthew’s, noted that in 2023 they fitted an 8kWh solar panel system on the church roof, supplying power to the church itself along with its café and foodbank, plus the neighbouring community hall.

The fund backs projects spanning from Littlehampton Harbour to Beachy Head and north to the A272 close to Twineham.

The deadline for entries is May 19.
