Unexpected occurrence
Someone who travelled past the cemetery around 8am noticed personnel at the location.
They indicated they walked past the cemetery this morning and were surprised to see police at the location. They expressed hope that everyone is safe.
Fire inquiry in progress
Sussex Police has verified that officers are looking into a blaze at a house on Alfriston Road in Seaford, which occurred shortly before 1am on April 17.
According to a force representative, the fire was eventually put out and an active investigation is being conducted by Sussex Police alongside the fire and rescue service. No casualties are thought to have resulted. Anyone who witnessed the event or holds pertinent information, including CCTV or mobile phone recordings, is asked to submit details via the website or contact 101, quoting reference 30 of 17/04.

According to an East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service representative, a fire investigation will take place after a blaze close to Seaford Cemetery. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 12.51am on April 17 after reports of a domestic fire on Alfriston Road. Crews utilised four breathing apparatus sets, a hose reel, a jet and two thermal imaging cameras. No injuries have been reported.
