A venue hired out for bachelor and bachelorette occasions has been instructed to deal with fire safety issues tied to its ornamental features.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service delivered an enforcement notice to the Seafront Party House on Oriental Place in Brighton, pointing out fire safety dangers.

Stay Brighton Ltd runs the business and must carry out various remedial measures by April 17.

The notice requires that artificial grass fitted to walls and around staircase banisters either be taken down or coated with fire-resistant substances.

The notice warned that the single staircase could create evacuation problems as flames might spread rapidly along the escape route due to the synthetic grass covering.

Other directives include installing a fire-resistant door for the kitchenette or removing the kitchen equipment. The fire authority stated that every route to emergency exits and the exits themselves must stay clear, observing that combustible objects were stored in the entrance hall.

The enforcement notice was dated March 19.

On Booking.com, the property has a score of 3.2 out of ten, with many visitors expressing worries about the cleanliness of the rooms.

The location provides multiple flats for reservation, such as a single-bedroom apartment sleeping up to 13 people. Further accommodation options exist with shared bathroom amenities.
