Farage meets residents

Farage has spoken with several local Reform candidates, as well as members of group, Crowborough Says No – a campaign group against the governments decision to house asylum seekers at Crowborough Army Training Camp.

The group has been among those attending weekly protests since the government announced that at least 600 male migrants will be temporarily housed at the camp.

The decision received a huge amount of backlash, with residents’ group Crowborough Shield launching a legal challenge over the camps use.

“We are grateful for any support”

Lorna Marter, 37, is part of Crowborough Says No and had the chance to speak with the party leader.

The non-political group believe the town is “not suitable” and the camp should be returned to the cadets for training.

Recently, Farage spoke out sharing his concerns about the use of the training camp to house asylum seekers.

When asked what this means to the campaign group, Ms Marter told The Argus: “It means that other people with a voice, that will be heard, are taking notice and they are standing up for us.

Argus reporter Annabel Stock said that many school children have rushed out to meet Farage, who is shaking hands and posing for photographs.

Many drivers passing by are also honking their horns, some in support and others shouting abuse.
