A new food retailer is set to open its doors in Eastbourne, offering shoppers £1,500 in prize vouchers, free products and the chance to completely fill their trolley at no cost.
The Food Warehouse, run by Iceland Foods, will open its Eastbourne branch at Lottbridge Drove Retail Park on Tuesday, April 21.
Shoppers can look forward to exclusive discounts, complimentary goods and a week-long programme of special offers when the store officially launches.
During the opening ceremony, the first 150 people in the queue will share £1,500 in vouchers between them.
Kristian Barrett, chief operating officer at Iceland Foods, expressed delight at opening the new store in Eastbourne, stating that it will give local shoppers great value and a superb range of frozen, grocery and fresh food products. He said the company cannot wait to welcome customers through its doors and see them discovering the amazing product range available throughout the store.
Anyone waiting in line before 7:30am will receive an entry ticket for a raffle giving them the chance to take part in a 90-second dash around the aisles to fill a trolley without spending anything, the company confirmed.
Further prize draws at 7:45am will give other shoppers opportunities to win various prizes, including seven Tower air fryers.
A Daewoo Double Drawer Air Fryer will be given to whoever comes closest to guessing how many sweets are inside a jar.
The new branch will create roughly 20 jobs and offer Eastbourne shoppers affordably priced bulk items, a larger shopping floor and a broader product range.
Introductory pricing throughout the opening week from April 21 to 27 features 24-pack Pepsi Max cans priced at £7 instead of the usual £12, 32-roll Cushelle toilet tissue reduced from £17 to £12.50, and 20-pack Walkers crisps now £3.25 rather than £5.25.
Additional deals include 95-wash Surf detergent for £7.50, McVitie’s biscuit value packs offered at two for £2, and Cadbury multipack bars in seven or nine-bar packs priced at £2.
Shoppers can also benefit from bundle offers such as five items for £5, two for £8, three for £10 and ten for £10.
Food Warehouse branches typically span twice the area of standard Iceland stores and stock products from brands including Slimming World, Cathedral City and TGI Friday’s.
Customers who are 60 years old or above enjoy a 10% discount every Tuesday.
The new Eastbourne branch will be open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
Iceland Foods runs more than 950 shops across the United Kingdom and is mainly known for its frozen food range and home delivery service.
The Eastbourne branch is taking over the former Range unit at 3-5 Lottbridge Drove, after Iceland filed planning and signage applications for the site in January.
The revised plans were later given conditional approval despite one objection from a nearby resident, with council officers noting the proposed roller shutter would face the car park rather than neighbouring houses.
