Dan Walker tribunal case to examine former colleague accusations

Published on

Former Channel 5 News presenter Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije is taking her ex-colleague Dan Walker to an employment tribunal over claims of racial and sex-based discrimination.

Vanderpuije, who shared presenting duties with Walker on the news programme for around a year between 2022 and 2023, has filed multiple grievances including unfair dismissal, discrimination based on race and gender, harassment, and contractual violations.

She is also pursuing action alleging she was penalised or sacked for raising concerns under the Public Interest Disclosure Act, the legislation protecting those who report wrongdoing.

Walker, who previously worked on BBC Breakfast and comes from Crawley, has been named as a respondent alongside Channel 5, ITN, ITN chief executive Rachel Corp, and Paramount Global, Channel 5’s parent company. He now presents the weekday morning slot on Classic FM.

According to an ITN spokesperson on Sunday, the claim, which the company fully denies, would be addressed through the tribunal process.

It is understood an internal investigation into the allegations against Walker did not support the complaints and no misconduct was identified.

The case is listed for a London employment tribunal beginning April 20, with hearings anticipated to last five days.
