Published on

Emergency services were called to a city centre location in Brighton after a bus collided with a person walking in the area.

Part of Western Road had to be closed to traffic on the morning of 3 April as a result of the incident.

Ambulance crews reached the scene and transferred the injured pedestrian to hospital in a serious condition.

The affected stretch of road was reopened to traffic by 10am.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police indicated that anyone with relevant information or footage should report it through their official website or call the non-emergency police number, quoting reference number 230 dated 03/04.

A representative from Stagecoach, which operates the bus service involved, stated that the company was aware Service 700 had been involved in a road traffic collision on Western Road in Brighton on 3 April 2026.

Emergency services attended promptly and the company is working closely with the relevant authorities. The firm expressed appreciation for the swift and professional response from emergency services.

Maintaining the safety of passengers, employees, and the general public continues to be a core priority for the organisation.
