Technology sector entrepreneurs are being encouraged to position themselves in artificial intelligence before rival businesses gain an edge.
Jon Card, a former business reporter at the Guardian who now directs Full Story Media, is advising companies to evaluate their standing on AI-powered search platforms before the technology becomes mainstream.
He explained that artificial intelligence searches will shortly become the main way people find information.
Mr Card noted that instead of browsing through Google listings, people are already moving toward services such as ChatGPT or Gemini.
As a result, organisations appearing in AI tool results will hold a notable edge.
In his view, the sooner businesses grasp how artificial intelligence can boost their online presence, the better.
He highlighted Brighton’s substantial concentration of technology and creative companies as evidence of untapped potential in the city.
He pointed out that the business environment is more advanced than many people appreciate, covering educational technology firms, data companies, and even businesses working in artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
Yet much of this goes unrecognized.
Corinne Card, Jon’s professional partner, compared the current shift to the early days of search engine optimisation.
She said she spent more than ten years in digital marketing. Previously, if your company did not feature on Google’s initial page, you essentially did not exist.
The situation with artificial intelligence reflects this, except there is no second page.
Artificial intelligence has the capacity to genuinely level the playing field for businesses. If you understand how to convey your message clearly and consistently, you can compete against far bigger rivals.
Your message no longer serves only human audiences. It also determines how systems categorise you.
If you are not controlling that narrative, someone or something else will.
The pair is arranging a complimentary event at Platf9rm in Brighton on Thursday, April 2 to help entrepreneurs improve their reputation and authority in the artificial intelligence era.
Those wishing to attend can sign up at eventbrite.co.uk/e/how-to-make-your-company-famous-tickets-1982349372336.
The workshop receives support from Barclays Eagle Labs.
Mr Card said he understands the artificial intelligence landscape appears daunting for many, though it can equally be an exciting experience.
The gathering will include pizza and wine. The building itself contains many strong technology companies, making it a fitting venue for this occasion.
