A coffee chain with several outlets across Brighton and Hove has closed two of its sites.

The Botanist Coffee Co. announced via social media that its branch near the Royal Pavilion and another on Gloucester Road in Brighton would be shutting their doors.

Both venues served customers for the final time on Saturday, March 28. The company thanked patrons for their continued support over the years.

Management stated that the shutdowns formed part of efforts to restructure the business and adjust to changing circumstances, with a larger venue planned for another part of the city.

According to the online post, the company expressed sadness about the closures, indicating that the moves were necessary for pivoting operations while planning to reopen a bigger joint venture in the town centre soon, maintaining two locations across Brighton and Hove. They expressed gratitude to supporters of both establishments and anticipation for revealing the new venue.

The Pavilion site first opened in March 2024. Royal Pavilion representatives described the project as a collaboration with a local independent business.

The outlet on Wilbury Road in Hove welcomed its first customers in January 2024, taking over premises formerly occupied by Small Batch, which had closed in March 2023.

The independent café highlights its dedication to environmental responsibility and works with nearby suppliers including Horsham Roasters, Real Patisserie, and Downsview Dairy.
