The long-term prospects of a local hockey organisation remain uncertain amid proposals to overhaul a school complex that could result in its synthetic turf being swapped for a 3G pitch.

Southwick Hockey Club conducts its regular training activities and stages competitive league fixtures at the Steyning Grammar School Shooting Field location.

The club has been operating for almost a century and has utilized the educational institution’s amenities for eleven of those years.

In February, the school presented proposals to reconstruct the venue as part of a scheme that may require the existing artificial surface to be substituted with a modern 3G playing field.
