Penis graffiti spray-painted around potholes in Sussex town

Crude images have been drawn around several potholes in a West Sussex road.

Images taken today, March 29, show two potholes on Richmond Road, Worthing, which have been defaced with penis graffiti.

The graffiti outlines two large potholes opposite the junction to Gratwicke Road.

This is not the first time a disgruntled driver has taken action against the potholes in Worthing.

Last year, a penis was also drawn around a pothole on Portland Road. The older graffiti appears different.

West Sussex County Council criticised the incident and urged people to “not risk their lives” by painting on roads.

A spokeswoman for the council: “We do not condone vandalism and urge people not to risk their lives (and, potentially, other people’s lives if they cause an accident) by going on a live carriageway to paint graffiti.

“Adding graffiti of this nature won’t speed up a repair or mean we undertake a repair when there is no safety issue present.”

In May 2024, vandals also drew penises around two large potholes in Tangmere.

The drawings were larger than a car and could be seen from the sky.

Two large potholes at the junctions with Tangmere Road, Malcolm Road, and Meadow Way were targeted by the frustrated vandal.
