Brighton has been named the second finest destination in Britain for outdoor drinking areas.

Research conducted by Beavertown identified which locations provide the most enjoyable experience for those heading outside to enjoy a drink when the weather is favourable, with the capital coming first.

Brighton secured second place achieving a rating of 9.7 out of ten, attributed to 1,469 hours of sunshine between March and September, matching Eastbourne for the most sunshine recorded.

The seaside destination also boasts 97 outdoor drinking spaces, and visitors to these venues can anticipate a pleasant experience given the average review score of 4.28 stars.

The rating fell just 0.3 points short of London’s perfect ten, with the capital’s offering of 547 outdoor drinking venues being a significant contributing factor.

Beavertown’s specialists examined criteria including the quantity of outdoor drinking spaces, hours of sunlight, and typical scores for pubs featuring such areas across the UK’s largest urban centres and towns to determine the premier destinations.

Bristol claimed third position on the ranking with a score of 9.39, helped by its 183 outdoor drinking venues.

Among the coastal destinations included in the list, Brighton was the sole one to reach the top five.

Exeter placed fifth with a score of 8.79.
