A probe has begun after a vehicle was allegedly navigated across a sports ground before striking a footbridge later the same day.
Officers are seeking members of the public who may have seen what happened in Horsham on Thursday, March 26.
According to reports, at approximately 11.30am a dark blue 4×4, which could look black, made its way from Leith View Road heading north through the Roffey recreation area and into Lockwood Close.
Investigators stated the vehicle then headed west along Lambs Farm Road before hitting a pedestrian bridge close to St Mary’s Church on Causeway.
A man aged 29 was taken into custody on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner, being the driver of a car that failed to stop after a traffic collision, driving under the influence of drugs, and possessing a class A controlled substance. He has been released on conditional bail while inquiries proceed.
Police confirmed nobody was hurt in the occurrence.
A Sussex Police representative indicated that officers are exploring several investigative avenues.
Anyone who saw the incident occur or possesses pertinent information such as CCTV recordings, phone footage, or dashcam material is asked to come forward.
