Disabled man attacked at ATM while getting cash

Published on

A thief pushed a disabled man who has cerebral palsy onto the floor and snatched his payment card from him.

The incident occurred on the evening of October 27, 2025, when a man aged in his thirties was at an automated teller machine on St James’s Street in Brighton. A woman approached him and requested cash before attacking him.

During a struggle over his wallet, the victim was knocked to the ground. The offender then fled the area with his bank card and proceeded to use it at nearby businesses.

On surveillance footage she was observed purchasing takeaway meals in a composed manner and trying to carry out additional transactions.

Officers attended the robbery report and their investigation led to a woman being apprehended on October 30 in connection with the case.

Aji Sinera, with no fixed abode, was charged that same day with three counts of fraud by false representation and with robbery.

The 30-year-old was brought before Brighton Magistrates’ Court the following day, where she was held in custody.

After entering a guilty plea during a hearing in November, Sinera was returned to custody to await sentencing.

She appeared at Lewes Crown Court on March 19 and received an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
