A summary of cases dealt with at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.

Raymond Baker, aged 66 and residing in Irvine Road, Littlehampton, was placed under a sexual risk order for a period of five years. The order prevents him from accessing supported housing, including YMCAs or warden-assisted accommodation, without first obtaining permission from his offender manager and without informing the relevant manager or carer about the order. He is also required to attend pre-arranged meetings with his offender manager and keep them informed of any job or activities that might bring him into contact with vulnerable women. This order will remain active until March 19, 2031.

Dariusz Chojnowski, 43, from Roedean Road in Brighton, received a £20 fine after pleading guilty to breaching a community order by not attending scheduled office visits on February 23 and February 25, 2026.

Calvin Matthew Fuller, 28, of Pelham Road in Seaford, had his community order modified. The Building Choices accredited programme requirement was eliminated due to concerns about his mental health. The rehabilitation activity requirement and unpaid work requirement continue until the original completion date of July 10, 2026.

Kent Orman, 57, from Hollingdean Road in Brighton, had his community order cancelled and received a new sentence following an application citing his medical circumstances, including the need for hip replacement surgery, the court was informed. The original offences involved possessing a shotgun and Winchester brand .22 inch long rifle calibre cartridges without a firearm certificate in Shoreham on August 12, 2023. Orman was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £16 victim surcharge, totalling £56, with no costs awarded.

Fiona Kelly, 45, of Merstal Drive in Solihull, was ordered to pay £140 in fines and surcharges after admitting to speeding on April 4, 2025. Kelly was convicted of operating a Seat vehicle on A22 London Road at Halsford Green in East Grinstead at over 30mph. Three penalty points were added to her driving licence.

Kwaku Oteng-Anane, 27, with no fixed address, admitted breaching a community order by missing unpaid work sessions on May 7 and May 28, 2025. The order was revoked and replaced with a new community order requiring him to complete up to seven days of rehabilitation activity and 68 hours of unpaid work by March 16, 2027.

Warwick Holding, 56, of Princes Avenue in Hove, was ordered to pay £260 in fines, court costs and a surcharge after pleading guilty to speeding on June 23, 2025. At 10.44am, Holding was driving a Vauxhall along A259 Kingsway in Hove at 36mph in a 30mph zone. His driving licence received three penalty points.

Tinashe Kangira, 33, from Warleigh Road in Brighton, admitted breaching a community order by missing scheduled office appointments on February 3 and February 24, 2026, and failing to attend a scheduled alcohol treatment appointment on February 25, 2026. The order was varied and Kangira must now refrain from drinking alcohol for 90 days, subject to monitoring, while the alcohol treatment requirement, programme requirement and rehabilitation activity requirement continue until February 15, 2027.

Rosemary Martin, 79, of Waldron Thorns in Heathfield, was ordered to pay £162 in fines, court costs and a surcharge after pleading guilty to speeding on March 19, 2025. At 11.54am, Martin was driving a Nissan on A22 Eastbourne Road at Halland at 36mph in a 30mph zone. Two penalty points were added to her driving licence.

Robin Mouland, 62, of Selham Close in Brighton, was ordered to pay £720 in fines, court costs and a surcharge after being found guilty of non-compliance with a community protection notice on November 15, 2024. The court heard that Mouland failed to adhere to a notice requiring him to cease carrying out vehicle repairs and maintenance on the public highway in Brighton and Hove, parking and storing cars on the grassed area in Selham Drive and Selham Close, and keeping vehicles on the public highway. Mouland entered a not guilty plea but was found guilty. He was also directed to remove two vehicles parked on Selham Close, described in court as a black Mini and a white van, within 28 days.
