The motorist who received a penalty notice featured in The Argus on 23rd March, Jan Goodey, may present himself as aggrieved due to having been penalised for parking contraventions.

However, I consider his stance remarkably presumptuous.

He seems to believe exemption from payment applies because he was carrying out charitable work.

Were such reasoning accepted, it would legitimise countless other seemingly reasonable justifications for parking illegally.

Given his previously mentioned history of depositing goods outside a charitable outlet, perhaps he considers only one organisation deserving of preferential treatment – his own.
