Fire crews respond to house blaze in Brighton

Emergency services are tackling a fire at a residential property on Freshfield Street in Brighton.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received the call at approximately 2.28pm.

Seven fire appliances have been deployed to the scene, with assistance coming from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

Members of the public have been advised to steer clear of the location and to keep exterior doors and windows shut.

Freshfield Street has been shut down because of the emergency, according to traffic reports.

A statement indicates the road is blocked in both directions between St Luke’s Road and Queens Park Rise, though traffic flow remains manageable.

Crews from Hove, Roedean and Preston Circus are now operating at the scene after the response was reduced to five fire engines.

Officers are present to manage traffic and handle road closures affecting Freshfield Street and St Lukes Road.

Residents should continue to keep doors and windows closed while operations continue.

The situation is now being brought under control as crews work to extinguish remaining hotspots.

Just two fire appliances remain at the location.

Emergency services have confirmed there are no reports of anyone injured.
