A 51-year-old police officer from West Sussex is facing criminal charges related to sexual offences against two minors.

Iain Macnab, a detective inspector, has been indicted on counts of sexual assault, engaging in sexual conduct with a minor, and obstructing justice.

The accusation of perverting the course of justice is said to have occurred while he was performing his official duties.

Support is being provided to the two individuals who were targeted along with their relatives by officers specialising in such cases.

The officer was relieved of his duties in March 2025 following the initial complaints.

He remains in prison custody awaiting his scheduled appearance at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 24.

As is customary, the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified about the situation.
