HMO at 25 Pevensey Road Eastbourne seeks permission to expand to 10 residents

Published on

A house in multiple occupation (HMO) in Eastbourne may be enlarged to enhance the living standards of its inhabitants.

The scheme for 25 Pevensey Road in Eastbourne involves converting the loft and adding a rear extension on the second floor to create additional living space, facilities and better arrangements for current and prospective residents.

The HMO presently accommodates seven people, with proposals seeking to increase this number to 10.

However, the property lies within the conservation area covering the town centre and seafront.

The modifications seek to utilise the existing space more effectively, adding a further bedroom, a kitchen equipped with a dining space, and a shared shower and bathroom facility.

According to the planning application, these alterations aim to enhance the living standards for the occupants.

The development indicated that this minor improvement would likely preserve the building’s current external look and accessibility.

The plans involve extending the rear loft and first floor, with an addition reaching up to a second floor.

Pre-application guidance on heritage matters from Eastbourne Borough Council had not been obtained.

The council is expected to reach a verdict on the proposals.
