A spokesperson for Sussex Police stated that on Friday, 13 March between 4 and 4.30pm, a woman and her dog boarded a 5a bus in North Street, Brighton. As they passed another passenger’s two dogs on board, one of them allegedly attacked her dog. The animal has since been euthanised. The breed involved remains unclear, though it has been described as a large Staffordshire Bull Terrier type canine.

Police are requesting that anyone who witnessed the occurrence or possesses relevant footage make contact. Reports can be submitted online or by telephoning 101 and quoting reference 1427 of 13/03.

Nick Hill, commercial director for Brighton and Hove Buses, also expressed sympathy to Ms Dulieu. The company handles such matters with the utmost seriousness and regrets to hear of this situation. Sincere condolences were extended to the customer. The safety and welfare of all individuals travelling on their routes, including companion animals, continues to be paramount.
