A significant new healthcare centre is poised to revolutionise medical and wellness services within the local area.

The Newhaven Health Hub is emerging as part of an extensive renewal programme and will accommodate two doctor surgeries, a fresh pharmacy, health and wellbeing amenities along with a purpose-built creative space.

Zoe Nicholson, who leads Lewes District Council, expressed enthusiasm about the advancement of the project, stating that it represents substantial investment in the health of local people and that observing these contemporary, purpose-designed buildings taking form has been gratifying.

Visitors to the location this week witnessed the progress achieved, including the finishing of internal works at Chapel Street Surgery and the fitting of a new connecting bridge.

Construction is currently proceeding inside Quayside Surgery and the Wave Active zones.

Chapel Street Surgery is projected to be finished in May 2026, with the remainder of the complex scheduled for completion by August 2026.

The centre forms a central element of Lewes District Council’s broader strategy to regenerate Newhaven.

Duncan Kerr, the chief executive of Wave Active, noted that experiencing the development in person truly highlights the magnitude of what is being accomplished.
