The hit crime series filmed in Sussex is preparing for its television comeback, with the premiere date now officially announced.
Grace, set in Brighton and Hove and led by John Simm, will launch its sixth season on ITV.
Drawn from Peter James’s successful book collection, the programme follows Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, portrayed by Simm, who continues to be troubled by his wife’s vanishing years ago while handling various criminal investigations.
Since debuting in 2021, the show has broadcast 16 episodes and will now continue with four additional instalments.
ITV has revealed that the popular Brighton-based detective series will premiere next Sunday, March 29.
John Simm will again take on the part of Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, alongside Richie Campbell, who returns as DI Glenn Branson.
A message posted by ITV on social media stated that the show would bring John Simm and Richie Campbell back into the action as Brighton’s finest. When leads dry up, Grace and Branson intensify their efforts on their most challenging cases yet.
Among those returning are Zoë Tapper as Cleo Morey, Laura Elphinstone as DS Bella Moy, Brad Morrison as DC Nick Nicholl and Juliette Motamed as DC Vee Wilde.
New faces appearing in the series include Rishi Nair, Ali Khan, Sara Powell, Chizzy Akudolu, Dylan Corbett-Bader, Peter De Jersey and Amir Wilson.
Speaking about the upcoming season, John Simm expressed that this marks the longest period he has participated in any production. He noted the experience remains a pleasure and that being part of such a cast for extended periods throughout the year makes declining impossible. He said he was eager to discover where Roy’s story leads in this new run.
Regarding production locations, the programme remains based in Brighton and Hove with numerous spots throughout Sussex featuring in the show.
Camera crews have been observed filming in Brighton over recent months, particularly at Sovereign House on Church Street. Simm and Campbell were also spotted at Shoreham Port in Southwick during the summer working on series six scenes. Beach Green car park in Lancing appeared in last year’s shoots for the new instalment.
Earlier seasons have used locations such as Brighton Pier, the Royal Pavilion, Southlands Hospital, Devil’s Dyke, Hove, Madeira Drive, Drusillas Zoo Park, Peacehaven and a countryside residence in Ovingdean.
The opening episode of the fresh series will screen on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on Sunday, March 29.
