Free MenB immunisations are now accessible online for all qualifying young adults throughout Sussex.

The initiative, facilitated via the NHS National Booking Service, seeks to deliver improved defence against meningitis prior to the commencement of the new academic year.

This expansion follows reports that tens of thousands of MenB jabs have already been delivered throughout the South East region.

Inderjit Sanghera, who serves as regional chief pharmacist for NHS England in the South East, expressed approval at the vaccination figures recorded so far.

Each individual immunisation represents meaningful progress in safeguarding young people ahead of their transition to higher education institutions.

The booking platform initially opened on 20 July, permitting only those aged 17 and 18 who met the criteria to schedule appointments through the website.

The system has subsequently been widened to encompass every eligible young person in the target group.

Those falling within the specified birth date ranges include individuals whose date of birth falls between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008, alongside undergraduates beginning their studies for the first time and born no earlier than 21 July 2001.

According to Mr Sanghera, the reservation process has been streamlined, enabling all qualifying young people to access the NHS National Booking Service for appointment scheduling.

Individuals who have yet to receive their initial injection have been urged to arrange their appointment promptly.

Complete immunisation requires receipt of both vaccinations to achieve optimal protection against the disease.
