A Chichester retailer specialising in cycling headwear has collected more than £7,000 for a paediatric oncology support organisation.

Helmet City gathered the funds during a community event held at its West Sussex outlet in support of Abby’s Heroes, which assists young cancer patients alongside their relatives.

The initiative formed part of a trio of charitable activities, complementing a similar gathering at the company’s Somerset location and a sporting-themed celebration.

According to Jennifer Holmes, who leads the business as managing director, the organisation had sought to demonstrate commitment to the cause following her family’s experience this year when her daughter received a cancer diagnosis.

She noted that Abby’s Heroes had offered meaningful assistance during a challenging period.

The combined efforts across all three occasions generated £7,437 for the cause.

David Fawcett, who serves as community fundraiser for the charity, expressed appreciation for the backing received from the retail business and individual contributors.

He indicated that surpassing the £7,000 threshold represented a noteworthy accomplishment for the partnership.

Fawcett highlighted that continued assistance from companies and members of the public remained essential to enabling the organisation’s ongoing work with affected children and relatives.

He conveyed thanks to those who participated in the various activities.
