Prosecutors have filed multiple charges against an individual for internet-based sexual offences involving minors.
Detectives began their inquiry in June 2025 following a report from Sussex Police regarding concerning digital activity.
The suspect, Samuel Carragher, aged 20, was taken into custody at his residence on Acacia Road in Newhaven.
He now faces the following charges:
Two allegations of sharing an illegal image of a minor
Three allegations of creating an illegal image of a minor
Ten allegations of sexually communicating with a minor
Three allegations of blackmailing someone with an intimate image
Four allegations of persuading or coercing a girl between 13 and 15 years old to participate in sexual intercourse
Five allegations of persuading or coercing a girl between 13 and 15 years old to participate in sexual activities without intercourse
Two allegations of forcing a girl between 13 and 15 years old to view sexual imagery
One allegation of transmitting a genital image with the intent to cause distress
Three allegations of purchasing sexual services from a girl between 13 and 15 years old
Three allegations of purchasing sexual services from a girl between 16 and 17 years old
One allegation of purchasing sexual services from a girl under 13 years old
One allegation of holding an extreme obscene image
The accusations relate to a minimum of 14 victims ranging from 13 to 17 years old, with the incidents allegedly occurring from 2022 through 2025.
Carragher was held in detention following his appearance at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 24, with his next hearing scheduled for April 22 at a venue yet to be determined.
