Travel disruption warning as multiple roadworks and closures begin

Published on

Footpath closures and roadworks are set to cause significant disruption across East Sussex in the coming weeks.

Several public footpaths in Little Horsted and Uckfield will be temporarily closed due to a housing development project.

The entire length of Public Footpath Little Horsted 1, part of footpath Little Horsted 3 and part of footpath Uckfield 10a, as well as the whole of Uckfield 10b and Uckfield 11, will be closed to all users.

Alternative routes will be provided and signposted for the duration of the closures, which will last up to six months from May 2.

To read the public notice with the complete list of closures, go to: publicnoticeportal.uk/notice/traffic-and-roads/69e25b9bc3b3d97c456530dc.

Additional changes are on the way for public bridleways in the Lewes District.

A new 207-metre public bridleway will be added, starting from the junction of Hamsey 20b, Hamsey 20c and Hamsey 31e, and continuing through various points to the junction of public bridleways Hamsey 32a and Hamsey 32b.

Residents can view the order and map at East Sussex County Council and Lewes District Council offices until June 3.

In Falmer, the roads around the American Express Community Stadium will have additional or amended fixture times, affecting Park Street, South Street, East Street, Mill Street, Park Street North, Middle Street and Ridge Road.

These changes will be effective on April 21, when Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club (BHAFC) face Chelsea, and on May 16, for the BHAFC vs. Tottenham Hotspur match.

The restrictions will be imposed from four hours before the event until up to two hours after the event.

Residents will still have access to these roads.
