A landmark brewery has announced plans to transform former office space into premium boutique accommodation.
Harvey’s Brewery, based in Lewes and known as Sussex’s oldest working brewery, is planning to open eight boutique en-suite guest rooms above its shop on Cliffe High Street.
The rooms will be located in part of the brewery’s former office space and are intended to offer visitors a “premium experience.”
Hamish Elder, chairman and managing director of Harvey’s Brewery, said: “Having brewed on this site for eight generations, we’re very conscious of the history around us.
“This project allows us to preserve that connection while opening up a new chapter for the brewery.
“It’s an exciting step in broadening what we offer, and in welcoming more people to experience Lewes and Harvey’s.”

The rooms are expected to open towards the end of the year and will complement Harvey’s existing brewery tours, offering guests the opportunity to combine an immersive brewery experience with an overnight stay.
Harvey’s believes the new accommodation will support the local economy by encouraging more visitors to spend time in Lewes, benefiting nearby businesses and promoting tourism.
The project is being delivered in partnership with JSA Architects, Cheesmur Building Contractors and local interior design firm Pfeiffer Design.
The guest rooms are being created in space that once served as the brewery’s offices.
Staff have since relocated to Harvey’s Depot site on Daveys Lane, making way for the transformation.
