A sushi chain with locations across the country has launched its first outlet in a West Sussex community.
The Sushi Co welcomed its first patrons on King’s Street in East Grinstead on Saturday (May 2).
The site, which previously housed a Papa John’s outlet, has been completely transformed and now showcases an open cooking station where kitchen staff prepare premium, freshly made dishes within moments while guests observe.
The concept sets itself apart by allowing diners to witness their meals being assembled, something unavailable at competing sushi establishments along the main shopping area, according to co-founder Sama Varanand Reddy. This transparency regarding ingredients and kitchen expertise has driven the brand’s success, as patrons value seeing exactly what goes into their food.
The business differentiates itself through what it calls minutes-fresh cooking. Unlike other premium sushi chains that pre-package items and keep them refrigerated for extended periods, every dish here is made specifically for each order, and all fish and seafood arrive from Scotland on a daily basis, resulting in noticeably better taste.
The new venue has taken on 13 staff members, with culinary experts coming from Nepal and Japan. The selection encompasses hosomaki, uramaki, nigiri, sashimi, poke bowls, plus prepared dishes including curries and gyozas, served from 11am through to closing time.
This site marks the company’s 31st venue, with strategies to unveil a further 11 locations during this calendar year.
East Grinstead offers excellent conditions for sustained expansion, according to Reddy. The area boasts a reputation for being accommodating to families while maintaining a lively atmosphere, with inhabitants craving quality food and pleasurable restaurant experiences throughout the day, from quick midday meals through to Friday evening dinners and late-night dining. The community had expressed desire for The Sushi Co to establish a presence, and the team is delighted to join this thriving neighbourhood.
The venue provides home delivery, collection services, and accommodates 16 guests at tables.
