Emergency services attended the scene of a severe crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Hastings on Wednesday afternoon.

Sussex Police confirmed they were dispatched to Station Approach at approximately 4pm on July 8.

A 47-year-old individual sustained injuries deemed potentially life-threatening and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Police have taken a 48-year-old man into custody on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury and actual bodily harm.

He is currently being held by officers.

According to The Argus, the parking facility at Hastings railway station was shut down following the crash.

Investigators are urging anyone who saw what happened or possesses relevant footage from CCTV cameras, smartphones, or dashboard cameras to get in touch.
