A Brighton-based initiative is set to deliver a specialised artificial intelligence workshop tailored specifically for mothers currently on maternity leave.
The programme, titled Side Hustles in Nap Time, represents the third installment in the AI on Maternity Leave series and is scheduled to take place at Plus X Innovation on Lewes Road on Wednesday, September 9, running from 11am through to 12.45pm.
Admission to the session costs £12, with places bookable through the Ticket Tailor platform.
The workshop has been developed with the explicit goal of equipping mothers with the confidence to re-enter the workforce while leveraging AI technologies, as well as opening pathways toward self-employment and freelance project-based careers.
The programme was established by Katie Rose, who brings 15 years of experience in brand and marketing leadership to the initiative.
According to remarks she provided, participants attending similar gatherings have demonstrated considerable creativity but frequently lack the uninterrupted time necessary to develop their concepts into viable ventures.
Rose pointed to individuals including Emily Kucharski from Wholesum and Lydia Shoesmith-Birkhead from JUNO&PIP as examples of entrepreneurs who successfully launched businesses during their own periods of maternity leave.
Rose expressed enthusiasm about the current landscape for mothers seeking to utilise AI capabilities, describing it as a promising period for those wishing to establish new ventures quickly and contribute toward developing responsible AI systems designed with women and future generations in mind.
She indicated a preference for seeing greater numbers of women capitalising on these opportunities rather than expressing anxiety about AI potentially displacing their existing roles.
The workshop welcomes participants from any professional background and accommodates all levels of prior experience with artificial intelligence technologies.
Programming includes guidance on constructing a functional prototype, insights from specialists regarding the refinement of commercial concepts, and a practical demonstration illustrating AI applications in real-world scenarios.
Rose Tighe, who serves as co-founder and chairperson of Brighton AI, will oversee the prototype development component.
Sarah Kemp, working as a narrative specialist, will address techniques for articulating business proposals effectively within the contemporary AI environment.
Frankie Hewitson, founder of The Frank Co.
and the supply chain tracking service The Chain, will contribute her perspective on integrating AI across business operations.
A preliminary version of the programme held in July attracted full attendance within a short timeframe.
Two ticket categories are offered, accommodating attendees who wish to bring their infants alongside them.
