MP welcomes Together Against Suicide expansion to all Premier League clubs

Published on

A suicide prevention programme linked to the Premier League has been extended to cover all twenty top-flight clubs following endorsement from a local Member of Parliament.

Chris Ward has welcomed the expansion of the Together Against Suicide scheme, which is designed to provide assistance to football supporters affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts.

The initiative was established in collaboration with Samaritans and delivers confidential help within supportive, non-critical settings.

It also increases understanding about initiating discussions with individuals who may be experiencing difficulties.

Mr Ward expressed his support for the development, noting that it was encouraging to witness the programme reaching every Premier League club, enabling more supporters nationwide to access help during challenging times.

He recounted attending a Samaritans presence at the Amex during a Brighton home match the previous season and described observing volunteers offering assistance and companionship to those requiring someone to talk to.

He conveyed appreciation for the dedication demonstrated by the organisation.

All Premier League clubs, including Brighton and Hove Albion, now deliver specific support to spectators on matchdays as part of the scheme.

Through Together Against Suicide, the Premier League and its member clubs are delivering confidential help to supporters in need, enabling them to obtain reliable assistance within safe environments free from judgment.
