A fresh local planning strategy is being prepared to determine how communities throughout Chichester District will develop in coming decades.
Chichester District Council is overseeing the initiative for regions situated beyond the boundaries of the South Downs National Park.
A preliminary consultation phase has been launched, with officials urging local inhabitants, commercial enterprises, and community groups to submit their perspectives.
Participation can be completed through the official council website at chichester.gov.uk/localplanconsultation.
Bill Brisbane, who serves as the cabinet member responsible for planning matters at Chichester District Council, expressed appreciation for those who have already contributed feedback.
According to council officials, the goal is to gather input regarding the issues, possibilities, and obstacles confronting the district, as well as identifying what local communities consider most significant.
This encompasses topics such as environmental preservation, assistance for neighbourhood businesses, infrastructure improvements, addressing local housing requirements, and maintaining the distinctive qualities of the city, towns, and villages throughout the area.
The emerging strategy will establish development parameters for the Chichester planning region through 2045.
Community members are specifically invited to articulate their cherished local attributes, highlight upcoming obstacles, and propose key priorities for the area.
The council has underscored that involvement during the initial stages yields the most substantial impact on the planning framework.
The existing local plan and Site Allocation Development Plan Document will continue to inform planning determinations until such time as the replacement strategy receives formal endorsement.
The consultation window extends until September 25, 2026.
