West Sussex County Council has announced plans to introduce electric vehicle charging points on roads throughout the county.
The authority is seeking public feedback on suggested sites as part of its West Sussex Public Chargepoint Network initiative, which focuses on providing charging facilities for residents who lack private parking such as driveways or garages.
Each location under consideration would include a dual-socket charging unit capable of accommodating two vehicles simultaneously.
Members of the public can examine the proposed locations via connectedkerb.com/westsussexresidents and submit their opinions through yourvoice.westsussex.gov.uk/ev-chargepoints.
The consultation period will remain open until Monday, October 19.
Councillor Erika Woodhurst-Trueman, who serves as cabinet member for highways and transport, stated that the objective involves making it more convenient for residents to charge electric vehicles near their homes, particularly in areas where off-road parking is unavailable.
She explained that the proposals aim to address current charging needs while also preparing for anticipated future requirements.
She urged residents to engage with the consultation and share their views regarding the suggested sites.
The initiative is being implemented through collaboration with Connected Kerb as part of the government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Pilot Programme.
Councillor Natasha Davie, cabinet member for environment and climate change, commented that dependable public charging infrastructure is essential for increasing public confidence in selecting electric vehicles.
