Tesco brings 20-minute grocery delivery to Sussex via Deliveroo

Tesco has expanded its partnership with Deliveroo to offer rapid grocery deliveries across the entire United Kingdom.

The rollout follows a pilot programme conducted through 147 Tesco locations, during which customers demonstrated significant demand for quick delivery options.

Under the expanded arrangement, shoppers in Sussex and throughout Britain can now receive Tesco products within a 20-minute window through the Deliveroo application.

The service encompasses Express stores and convenience branches, providing access to everyday essentials alongside the supermarket’s full product range.

Ishna Berry, Tesco’s director responsible for rapid delivery operations, explained that consumer shopping habits have evolved to require greater convenience and adaptability.

The collaboration with Deliveroo enables millions of additional households to access Tesco’s pricing structure and product selection, while continuing to benefit from Clubcard pricing schemes and the ability to accumulate loyalty points on purchases.

The initial phase of the programme commenced from Tesco’s Limbury Mead Express outlet, where the inaugural order comprised morning meal staples and lunchbox provisions such as bread, spreads and fresh produce.

Performance data from this trial phase prompted the decision to extend availability nationwide.

Rob Harris, Deliveroo’s chief revenue officer, stated that customer response during the testing period clearly indicated strong appreciation for having Tesco accessible through the platform.

The nationwide expansion now permits substantially more consumers to obtain Tesco merchandise with rapid delivery timeframes, with Clubcard advantages remaining applicable to all orders.

The service operates in major urban centres throughout the country.

Tesco locations participating in the delivery network span numerous cities, with Sussex itself containing dozens of outlets encompassing larger Superstore formats, Tesco Extra hypermarket establishments and smaller Express convenience branches.

For consumers seeking alternative options, Tesco operates its own dedicated rapid delivery infrastructure called Whoosh, which fulfils orders from thousands of store locations nationwide.
