Alex Jones and Gok Wan host Brighton party celebrating life after 49

An event staged in Brighton has demonstrated that certain age groups refuse to accept the notion of winding down.

Alex Jones and Gok Wan were among those leading celebrations at The Live More House, an exclusive one-night gathering arranged by the cholesterol-lowering food company Benecol to mark the milestone of turning 49.

The venue for the occasion was Beach House Brighton, where the focus remained firmly on championing positive attitudes toward growing older and encouraging the over-49 demographic to persist with exploration, socialising, and fresh experiences.

Jones, whose 50th birthday arrives in March, addressed the assembled guests and dismissed the suggestion that advancing years require a reduction in activity.

She observed that self-knowledge deepens with age, along with awareness of personal happiness and improved ability to prioritise wellbeing.

Additionally, she noted that concerns about others’ perceptions diminish considerably.

The evening, she explained, had been designed to honour these aspects of later life, and she urged attendees to look after themselves, enjoy the occasion, and make the most of what remains available.

Wan then assumed DJ duties, treating the assembled crowd to a specially curated Gok After Dark set that drew people onto the dance floor.

He noted that this particular generation has mastered the art of enjoyment through decades of practice.

However, he added that the appeal of the evening lay in the reminder that growing older does not necessitate becoming more subdued or less willing to take risks.

People can continue discovering new interests, maintaining their health, and absolutely persisting with dancing.

The evening, he suggested, offered plenty more to anticipate.

The gathering also represented a significant moment for Benecol, the leading cholesterol-lowering food brand in the United Kingdom, as the company introduced a redesigned visual identity after three decades of assisting consumers with their cholesterol management.

Representatives from the brand explained that The Live More House reflected broader aspirations for the company’s future direction: motivating individuals to attend to their current health so they can maintain participation in activities they cherish.

According to the company, advancing in years need not require stepping back from existence.

Instead, it can bring greater assurance, accumulated wisdom, increased liberty, and substantial reasons to feel optimistic about what lies ahead.

The celebration concluded with a well-attended dance floor, illustrating that the Gen X demographic retains its capacity for enjoyment.

In Benecol’s stated philosophy, extending lifespan should not merely add years to existence but should enhance the quality of those years themselves.
