A celebrated British dance theatre ensemble will embark on a national tour this autumn, bringing their latest production to audiences across multiple cities.
The company, Thick & Tight, is led by artistic directors Daniel Hay-Gordon and El Perry.
Their upcoming work, Natural Behaviour, will visit Newcastle, Edinburgh, Bournemouth, Brighton, Nottingham, Liverpool and Falmouth throughout the autumn season.
The production presents what its creators describe as performed portraits, examining themes of naturalness and unconventionality through a combination of movement, satirical elements, impersonation and verse.
Annie Edwards, Azara Meghie and Jahmarley Bachelor form the principal performers.
The visual and technical elements are overseen by designers Tim Spooner, Pam Tait and Nao Nagai.
Prior to this tour, the company achieved sold-out performances during a week-long engagement at Battersea Arts Centre in the capital.
The ensemble previously toured Tits & Teeth in 2024, a production that secured an OFFIE Award and filled every seat during its appearance at the London International Mime Festival.
Thick & Tight has appeared at prestigious venues including the Royal Opera House, Barbican and Sadler’s Wells.
The company has also performed at community spaces and LGBTQ+ venues such as Duckie and Moth Club.
A representative for the group stated that the directors consistently work to challenge limiting and exclusive conceptions of what constitutes artistic excellence while examining movement as an art form capable of providing entertainment whilst questioning established social conventions.
The ensemble holds associate artist status at The Lowry.
Funding and institutional backing has been provided by Arts Council England, Battersea Arts Centre, BalletBoyz and the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
Natural Behaviour has received co-commissioning support from Battersea Arts Centre, The Lowry, Royal Ballet and Opera, Norfolk and Norwich Festival and Duckie.
Brighton audiences can catch the production at Brighton Dome on Tuesday, October 13, with curtain-up scheduled for 7.30pm.
