Police warn alcohol can be seized at Brighton v Crystal Palace match

Both Sussex Police and British Transport Police have released official communications regarding the upcoming fixture between Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace.

The match is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, with a kick-off time of 2pm.

Authorities have enhanced their operational arrangements to ensure public safety during the Brighton versus Crystal Palace encounter.

The initiatives encompass a heightened uniformed presence throughout the area alongside a Public Space Protection Order covering the central business district.

Officers have cautioned that alcoholic beverages found in open containers beyond authorised premises could be confiscated.

A representative from Sussex Police stated that residents should anticipate seeing additional police officers deployed throughout the city on the day of the match.

The objective centres on guaranteeing that all individuals present at the stadium or viewing the fixture at establishments across the city can experience the event safely and without incident.

A Public Space Protection Order remains active for Brighton city centre, and those attending are notified that drinks containing alcohol discovered outside licensed venues, including those from bottles and cans, may be taken by officers and disposed of.

Significant traffic build-up and travel interruptions heading into the city are anticipated, particularly in the vicinity of Brighton station.

Both residents and visitors utilising rail services or road infrastructure have been urged to allocate additional time for journeys and to monitor travel bulletins issued by transport companies.

British Transport Police confirmed that supplementary officers would conduct patrols across the rail network to maintain supporter safety and provide reassurance to travellers.

British Transport Police superintendent Darren Malpas commented that a comprehensive policing operation has been arranged for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace.

As applies routinely to football-related policing duties, coordination is being maintained with partners at Sussex Police alongside railway operators and the clubs participating.

Passengers were encouraged to approach officers should any issues arise and to flag any suspicious activity by sending a message to the dedicated number 61016.

The contest will be hosted at the Amex Stadium in Falmer, with full capacity attendance anticipated following complete ticket sales.
