The Strictly Come Dancing finalist and former Love Island winner Amber Davies is preparing to take on the principal role in the musical production heading to the Theatre Royal in Brighton.

Davies, who found fame through her television appearances, will portray Elle Woods in the final leg of the Legally Blonde stage show’s national tour.

According to statements from Davies, Brighton holds special significance for her, with the opportunity to conclude the tour in the seaside city described as a remarkable honour.

The demands of touring differ substantially from those of a fixed theatrical residency, requiring performers to adapt to new surroundings on a weekly basis as each venue presents its own unique challenges and characteristics.

Davies explained that her adjustment process typically involves a single performance to become comfortable with unfamiliar performance spaces.

Despite this familiarity with the routine, she acknowledged experiencing nervous anticipation before every opening night across different cities.

However, she expressed appreciation for these feelings, interpreting the presence of such emotions as evidence that she maintains genuine investment in her work.

The performer emphasised that authenticity remains central to her approach, with personal life experiences serving as a crucial resource for embodying her character.

Many elements of Elle’s narrative at the outset involve themes of romantic disappointment, and Davies noted that she could draw upon her own encounters with similar situations.

Her objective involves enabling audience members to identify with aspects of the story, thereby creating a personal connection to the performance.

When spectators can recognise themselves within the narrative, she considers her interpretation successful.

Regarding her craft, Davies explained that she channels accumulated professional experience into each role, amplifying these elements significantly when preparing to play Elle.

She articulated a clear preference for live theatre over television work, citing the immediate and reciprocal energy exchange possible between performer and audience as a defining characteristic of stage performance.

This collaborative atmosphere is created collectively during each show.

Throughout the tour, the company has navigated periods of illness alongside the inherent pressures of presenting new performances.

Despite these challenges, Davies reported that the ensemble has developed strong bonds and mutual support.

Team members demonstrate unwavering dedication to one another, willing to make considerable sacrifices for their colleagues’ benefit.

Following the conclusion of the touring schedule, production will transfer to the West End for a residency at the London Coliseum, with performances scheduled from late March through to late May.

Prior to commencing rehearsals for this next phase, Davies will benefit from a five-week break, during which she intends to spend time with relatives in Wales.

The prospect of the West End engagement means any post-production emotional adjustment will be postponed until the summer of the following year.

Looking beyond her professional achievements, Davies identified motherhood as her primary personal aspiration.

While expressing satisfaction with career milestones already accomplished, she conveyed a strong desire to embrace this potential future role, though acknowledging it may not materialise for several years.

The Brighton engagement at Theatre Royal will run from mid-December through early January, with specific dates in mid and late December designated for alternative casting.

TikTok personality Hannah Lowther will assume the role of Elle Woods during those particular performances.
