Firefighters responded to reports of smoke in a seaside town in Sussex.
According to information obtained by The Argus, an odour of smoke was detected in the vicinity of Beachcroft Place, though investigators found no clear origin for it.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service acknowledged receiving at least one complaint about the smell on the night of Wednesday, July 8.
According to their statement, crews were dispatched to Chester Avenue in Lancing following reports of a smoky odour, but searches revealed no blaze.
They added that this was the sole callout they dealt with in Lancing that evening.
