A individual has acknowledged responsibility for lighting a fire at a mosque while maintaining he did not intend to hurt anyone.
Emergency services responded to Peacehaven Mosque on the evening of October 4, where the building was in use and illuminated when investigators allege an accelerant was applied to the front entrance before ignition.
At proceedings held at the Old Bailey this Friday, Ricky Ryder entered a guilty plea to a single count of reckless arson endangering life.
Ryder, aged 38 and residing in Seaford, entered not guilty pleas to charges of arson with intent to endanger life along with two additional counts of arson connected to vehicles.
Jack Slowey, 34, from Peacehaven, entered not guilty pleas to all four charges against him.
A scheduling conference is scheduled for October 9 at the Old Bailey, with proceedings due to commence on December 1 at Kingston Crown Court.
Three additional individuals were taken into custody in March regarding this matter.
