MPs across Sussex have voted in a Commons motion on whether Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer should face an investigation over his appointment of Lord Peter Mandelson.

The vote concerned whether Sir Keir should be referred to the Privileges Committee regarding claims he had misled MPs over the process of appointing Lord Mandelson as US Ambassador.

In total, nine Sussex MPs backed the motion, which was ultimately defeated by 223 votes to 335, a majority of 112.

Fifteen Labour MPs rebelled against a three line whip imposed by the government.

The list of Sussex MPs who backed the motion is as follows:

Alison Griffiths (Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, Conservative)

Mims Davies (East Grinstead and Uckfield, Conservative).

Sian Berry (Brighton Pavilion, Green)

Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, did not vote in her role as Deputy Speaker.

The vote was triggered after a motion was brought by Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, and was supported by Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey, alongside SNP, DUP and independent MPs.

Lord Mandelson was sacked as US Ambassador last year over his links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and later resigned from the Labour Party earlier this year.
