A man has been charged after a corrosive substance was thrown at a man at a railway station.
Wade Richards, 24, of Three Bridges Road, Crawley, appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 22, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a corrosive substance and possession of a bladed article.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on May 7.
Emergency services were called to Crawley Station just after 11.20pm on March 7.
It was reported that the victim, a man in his 30s, had been approached and attacked by three men – one of whom threw a substance at him – before he was chased by the group and fell over.

He was then kicked before the men made off.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to potentially life-changing chemical burn injuries and was later discharged.
The substance thrown at him was tested and found to be corrosive and he continues to recover from his injuries, British Transport Police said.
