This “trendy” high street in Sussex has been named one of the best in the country – have you visited?
The Express has shared its picks of Britain’s 14 best high streets, each “bursting with independent shops and pretty lanes”.
The list was put together using research from leading estate agents alongside choices made by other major news outlets.
From the “strength of independent retailers and diversity of amenities to vacancy rates, footfall and overall desirability among homebuyers”, there were a variety of spots named, including one in Sussex.
What are the best high streets in Britain?
From Shrewsbury in Shropshire to Harpenden in Hertfordshire, there were plenty of brilliant high streets highlighted.

Hastings is home to one of Britain’s best high streets
Making the list was Hastings, along the southeast coast in East Sussex.
The Express noted that Time Out has picked Hastings and its neighbour, St Leonards-on-Sea, as being among the best places to visit in Britain this year.
Both were said to have “trendy high streets and a calendar packed full of cultural and community events”.
It added that Hastings is an “arty, foodie seaside spot” and noted that Hastings Old Town has plenty to do.
The Hastings Contemporary art gallery, Hastings Fisherman Museum and “vintage treasure trove” Courthouse Cooperative were three things picked out.
The Express also said that several local shops in Hastings, including AG Hendy & Co (Old Town) and Little Mashers (St Leonards), have been listed by The Times among the 50 best independent shops in the UK.
Hastings High Street in particular is said to be home to “dozens of independent shops selling everything from art and antiques to upmarket homewares, flowers, artisan breads and general quirk”, writes Hello Sussex.

It says that the “eclectic mix of shops will keep you occupied for an hour or two”, with vintage shops, antique shops, local homestyle and gift shops all on offer.
“There are some good pubs, coffee shops, tea rooms and delis in the High Street too,” it adds.
