More than £2,300 was collected for palliative care services at a charity football match.
Staff members from the supermarket chain organised the event to benefit St Michael’s Hospice. The contest saw sides from the Hastings Extra and Bexhill Superstore locations face off against each other.
Jo Coleman, community lead at the Hastings Extra branch, explained that the concept originated earlier this year. She noted that the hospice provides valuable support to local residents and is well worth supporting. She added that several colleagues and relatives had received care at the facility, making the cause particularly meaningful to the team.
Hastings secured a 3-2 victory in the match.
The occasion brought together both men and women to play, with money gathered through contributions, individual player backers, a raffle, a confectionery stand and various games and activities throughout the day.
Additional funds came from a book sale table and collection receptacles, with shoppers, workers and supervisors all demonstrating their backing.
Nick Neal, manager of the Hastings Extra store, Dotcom manager Bailey Wilson and Chris Nason, who manages the Bexhill Superstore, all supported the occasion.
Sophie Bailey, who handles community and corporate fundraising for St Michael’s Hospice, expressed her appreciation to everyone who participated in this wonderful fundraising match.
