A man accused of murder has appeared in court.
Daniel Bassett, 26, was charged with murder and attempted murder yesterday, April 28, following the incident in Regency Square at around 2.10 am on Sunday, April 26.
Emergency services responded to reports of a fight taking place inside a property and two men were found inside with stab injuries.
Tio Day, 37, died at the scene. A second man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment.
Mr Day’s family have paid tribute to him, describing him as “loving, determined and caring”.
Police attended a nearby hotel following reports of a man entering the reception and exhibiting concerning behaviour.

A cordon was in place outside Moon’s Lodge in Regency Square on Sunday.
Bassett, of no fixed address, was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today, April 29. He spoke only to confirm his name.
He is due to appear on Friday, May 1, at Lewes Crown Court. He was remanded into custody.

“Tragic incidents like this have significant consequences. Lives are lost or changed forever, families are left grieving, and entire communities are affected.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to tackle knife crime in our communities, and hold those found responsible to account.”
Mr Day’s cousin Ebony said: “He would put everyone first because that is is heart.”
She added: “He was so inquisitive and he should have been going places, but he had a hard life.
“He made some choices that were not the best, but he had brains growing up – he could have been a doctor.
