Need somewhere to visit this springtime? This pretty Sussex village by the coast has been named one of the best to visit, and has some of the best views in the county.

Bosham is a coastal village found in the Chichester District of West Sussex, about two miles west of Chichester.

Home to “attractive cottages, coffee shops and a historic quay”, there is so much to do, and it has frequently been lauded for its beauty.

Now, the village has been picked out as one of the prettiest villages in the UK for a spring weekend break by The Telegraph.

Bosham in Sussex named among UK’s prettiest villages for a spring break

Telegraph expert Sarah Baxter has picked out her “favourite places for a charming seasonal escape, with thatched houses, historic tearooms and birdsong galore”.

On Bosham, she wrote: “Bosham sits scenically on the edge of Chichester Harbour, a fine spot to welcome in the new season.

“The village, with its attractive cottages, coffee shops, historic quay and part-Saxon church, is a pleasing place for a wander.”

It is described as a “small attractive village” by Visit South East England, which explains that the village has “played an important part in the history of the country over the centuries”.

It is also renowned for being one of the most photogenic locations in Sussex and on the South Coast of England, with a “perfect blend of history, scenic views and a relaxed atmosphere”, The Great Sussex Way says.

It is not the first time the village has received praise, having been labelled one of the best in the UK before.

Last year, Bosham was highlighted by experts at Independent Cottages as being one of England’s best ‘chocolate box’ villages.

The phrase refers to images of the beautiful cottages that used to front the iconic Cadbury’s boxes.

Things to do in Bosham

If you are thinking of having a spring break in Bosham, you’re in luck, as there is so much to do in and around the village.

The Telegraph picks out the old Bosham-Itchenor ferry trips and boat trips to see the harbour’s resident seals as just two of the best.

It also notes that the newest stretches of the recently-launched King Charles III England Coast Path visit Bosham en route from West Wittering to Hayling Island.

The publisher highlights the Millstream Hotel, which sits next to the village stream, as a top place to stay.

Bosham is famed for its sailing and becomes a “hive of activity” in warmer months, providing mooring for countless boats and yachts.

There is also dinghy sailing and sailing courses for children available most of the year.

There is also the Bosham Walk Art & Craft Centre, the village church, as well as “many artisan shops” in Bosham Walk.
