Emergency services flocked to an incident at a seafront hotel.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) was called to a report of a fire in Kings Road, Brighton, at around 2.17am today, April 16.
Pictures show emergency vehicles and a large group of people gathered outside DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole.
Ten fire engines, a command unit, an aerial ladder platform and seven officers were sent to the scene, a spokeswoman for the fire service said.

It was declared a false alarm at around 3.02am after a “thorough investigation”.

The spokeswoman for ESFRS said: “At 2.17am, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire in Kings Road, Brighton. The property was being evacuated.
“Ten fire appliances, a command unit, an aerial ladder platform and seven officers were sent to the scene.
“After a thorough investigation at 3.02am it was declared a false alarm.”
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “Police supported an evacuation of 100 people from the Doubletree Brighton Metropole hotel after smoke was reported to be in the stairwell at 2.22am on April 16.”
