Three individuals have now been charged following a shooting incident at a pub.
On April 4, emergency responders were dispatched to Montgomery Street in Hove following reports that a gun had been discharged toward The Poets Ale and Smokehouse.
One man, aged in his thirties, sustained minor injuries during the event.
Police carried out five arrests between April 5 and April 12 as part of their investigation.
Carlos Cassidy, who previously used the name Martin Bennett, aged 45 and with no permanent address, Memis Kalmis, 43, from Stonery Road in Portslade, and Sade Ward, 40, from Montague Street in Brighton, have all been charged with possessing a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence.
All three individuals appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on April 15.
Cassidy and Kalmis were ordered to remain in custody, whereas Ward was released on bail and is scheduled to appear at a crown court, which has yet to be scheduled, on May 13.
Sussex Police also confirmed that a 25-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has also been released on bail pending further investigation.
Detective Superintendent Suzanne Joseph stated: “This has been a fast-paced and complex investigation.
We recognize that this matter has caused worry for residents in the Hove area, but I want to assure everyone that we are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness.
This was a standalone occurrence that does not present any risk to the broader public, and incidents of this nature are exceptionally uncommon.
We have made five arrests in connection with this event and three individuals have been charged and brought before the court.
We are continuing our broader inquiries and are maintaining close contact with those affected.
